This weekend we started the selection phase of our Campus programme. Spectrum Campus is a 12-month professional learning and development programme designed by industry-leading training and sales experts to provide talented and committed young people with the skills and attributes they need to succeed in a fast-paced sales environment.
Out of the hundreds of applications received, we carefully selected 14 candidates that we thought best suited the skills and attributions needed for our campus programme. These 14 candidates were then invited to our offices at The View to see if they had what it takes to join Campus.
The day started with an introduction from Jane, former Head of Learning & Development at Canon (UK) Ltd, who runs our innovative in-house training and development programmes. Jane then split our 14 candidates into two teams and sent them off to embark on their first task of the day. The first task saw the candidates having to demonstrate their team-working skills in a challenge that tested how well they could use their skills to survive on a deserted island.
The candidates then went into their first 1 to 1 interview of the day. This gave the interviewers a chance to see what each individual was like, as well as giving the candidates a chance to express the reasons why they should be chosen for the Campus programme.
The second half of the day was where things really got tough. The candidates had 30 minutes to prepare for the ‘Why me’ task in which they each had to present not only to each other, but also to a panel of 10 assessors made up of some of IT@Spectrum’s Salespeople, Directors, Faculty members and Learning & Development team.
To finish off the day, each candidate participated in a second interview where they would make their final impressions on the assessors before they made their decision on who to take on. The day was a huge success and we hope to be seeing our selected candidates start the Campus programme this September. Watch this space for the Salespeople of the future!
